Some films are polite.
Lucky 400 is not.
Lucky 400 is a classic ISO 400 black & white negative film with a bold, unapologetic character. It is grainy, contrasty, and expressive — a film that embraces imperfection and turns it into mood.
Originally designed as a high-speed, practical black & white film, Lucky 400 has found a second life among photographers who enjoy texture, grit, and emotional weight in their images. It doesn’t try to be smooth or refined — and that’s exactly the point.
This is a film with personality.
It doesn’t disappear — it shows up.
This film is a Crystal Film lab-respooled edition, professionally hand-loaded in our lab using original Lucky factory bulk film.
We use the same Lucky-produced master rolls and carefully respool them under controlled lab conditions to ensure consistent quality, reliable loading, and dependable performance — while offering a more accessible price point.
There is no compromise on image quality.
The emulsion, character, and performance remain exactly the same.
The difference lies purely in packaging, not in the film itself.
This edition is ideal for photographers who shoot often, shoot intentionally, and value results over branding.
